If it does not get cool enough at night, the tomato plants won't flower. Your nocturnal lows determine this. I picked 76F as an approximate cut-off. Small cherry tomatoes will produce into a little warmer nocturnal temps, and it varies from night to night. Once a tomato has started growing it will keep growing. Often tomatoes won't even flower when it is 80F at night, or the flowers won't make fruit. I have tried so many varieties. Cherry tomatoes and Juliet (hybrid) produce the longest into summer heat, but they stop, too.

Why do tomatoes taste better in Greece?
answer Hot Sun, Inhospitable Soil, and Small Farms
It's no secret the Mediterranean climate produces great conditions for tomatoes, eggplant, olives, and other crops that enjoy hot summers and mild, wet winters.Feb 3, 2021
Yet the question might better be phrased, "what makes supermarket tomatoes be so bland?"
Tomatoes for mass consumption are grown in large monocultures, often in greenhouses, and chosen for good shipping characteristics and good appearance. Those characteristics lead to bland flavor. Picking green makes tomatoes firmer, so they ship better. At the point of sale ethylene gas is used to make them undergoa color-change, "ripening". Tomatoes with uniform redness sell better, but the genes for uniform redness are not good for flavor.
The genes for fuller flavor are often linked to unever color changes in ripening.
Those tomatoes that are partly dark purple and partly still green in patches are likely to be the ones you want to eat.
Ethylene gas "ripening" of green tomatoes is not vine-ripening. Vine ripened tomatoes have flavor. In general, canned tomatoes are more flavorful than supermarket tomatoes, because they are harvested ripe and directly processed.
I think you will find that Greek nights cool into the lower 70sF during tomato season.
This whole Ukrainian business has become a personal lynching party between Putin and Zelensky. Even when they have finished each other war goes on, no difference. How many body doubles, and in case their real bodies are spent before we mortal souls realise that the real war is not about persons, personal sacrifice but about laundering money and conflicted interests. This goes beyond the 2 antagonists Put. and Zel. but also about....leaving all imagination open.
I haven't planted tomatoes yet!
We have eary tomato-season and late tomato-season, but no tomatoes in August. Tomatoes don't produce when the temps stay above qbout 76F all night.
Strange! They do in Greece (tomatoes producing....). Must be a different strain.

Arghhh it's all just a distraction while they cull us.

Zelensky is an actor. Putin is an actual head of state.
Putin knows Russia is not at war with Ukraine, but with globalist power elites who currently control US policy through subversion.
That is the enemy Russia is fighting, which is difficult.
A lot of pawns are dying, which is incidental to the real struggle for the global financial arrangement going forward.
This is too abstract to motivate most pawns.
Don't be a pawn. Save pawns from death when you can.
Pawns need to refuse to kill other pawns in war.
Zelensky moves like a bishop, at best, but he's still the piece, not the player.
Thanks as always for your blog. It makes my day. And what a lovely flower is Jenny in your garden.
