“God promised this land to the Jews”. Maybe, but Britain did not. How easy it is to justify some heinous action that benefits you. There are words for this, but my education did not go there. I have to settle for “immoral” and “wrong”. Self-serving seems way too mild.

My horror and disgust is based on Christianity, not Judaism or Islam. I am deeply embarrassed that my own government supports Israel. Oddly (?) that fact compels me to learn more about the actions of the USA. Because clearly I have been deliberately duped.

Thank you for your publishing of this horror story.

Thank you Susan.

The immorality of killing farmers to steal their lands is deep, and precedes any current religions within the human nature.

Is stealing others' land for yourself what is meant by settler colonialism? It has a time-honored (!) tradition in the US.

The scale and scope of your Israel v. Gaza report is appreciated in a horrific sort of way. Nobody can say "hey, I didn't know...! It is appalling to know such things are happening and our prez is supporting it with weapons and money.

As for being "too cheap to meter", harvesting cherry tomatoes was easy compared to the effort it took to put in THAT garden spot! Definitely better than the turf grass that was there before.

"Too cheap to meter" is always a joke about the original estimates of what nuclear-powered electrical generation would cost. Homegrown tomatoes are not cheap.

Yes, there has been more than one actor playing the role of Joe Biden. But Rense gets this backwards. (On purpose?)

The real "Joe Biden", who we saw on TV and in the newspapers from the 1980s right through to the end of Obama's second term is the one Rense labels "Body Double Number 2", and describes as having "Unattached ear lobes, hair plugs...much more hair, smooth chin, small brown MOLE under right side eye bag".

The real Joe had a brash confidence, an air of dominance, the loud and aggressive manner of a bully, a distinct narcissism. He was a bit of a thug.

The guy or guys we have seen for the past three years are different. They lack all of the above traits. In short, the real Joe was an alpha male, but these guys are betas. Rense is pulling our legs here.

I agree that guy looks more like the younger Joe Biden.

Ok, I get it now. Count on me to kiss the joke.

Have you heard Guy Clark's song "Homegrown Tomatoes"? - "....There's just two things that money can't buy, and that's True Love and homegrown tomatoes"

"Too cheap to meter" indeed!

Piecing the evidence together the existence of international law is the right of might. One can inconvenience might but not extirpate it's use. Only moral character limits might. And in the de-Christianized West we revert to stony eyed Antiquity and pagan power politics. THE DECAY AND THE RESTORATION OF CIVILIZATION,

“The Decay and the Restoration of Civilization” is volume one of “The

Philosophy of Civilization” by Albert Schweitzer, translation by C.T.

Campion. The following two passages from that volume seem very

relevant to the Institute of World Culture and our current study of the

European Renaissance:

"It is not the civilization of a race, but that of mankind, present and future

alike, that we must give up as lost, if belief in a rebirth of our civilization is a

vain thing.

But it need not be so given up. If the ethical is the essential element in

civilization, decadence changes into renaissance as soon as ethical

activities are set to work again in our convictions and in the ideas which

we undertake to stamp upon reality. The attempt to bring this about is well

worth making, and it should be world-wide."

"The renewal of civilization has nothing to do with movements which bear

the character of experiences of the crowd; these are never anything but

reactions to external happenings. But civilization can only revive when

there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind

independent of the one prevalent among the crowd and in opposition to

it, a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective

one, and in the end determine its character. It is only an ethical

movement which can rescue us from the slough of barbarism, and the

ethical comes into existence only in individuals.

The final decision as to what the future of a society shall be depends not

on how near its organization is to perfection, but on the degrees of

worthiness in its individual members. The most important, and yet the least

easily determinable, element in history is the series of unobtrusive general

changes which take place in the individual dispositions of the many.

Ethics seems increasingly situational since WW2.

I think true ethics is inherently adaptive to the situation, but it has to based upon holding the rights and the good of others in a high regard, "do unto others, as you would have them do unto you".
