They are selling products as an "answer" to concerns for the world changing into a much more difficult place to survive.

"How might China respond to such social developments? A very likely possibility is that it might try offshoring production to client states that can still undergo the industrial revolution just as we did in the 1970s."

BRICS anyone?

All the best to you and your's Doc. Here's to your tomatoes!

Hi Dr. Day: - From Mike Sherlock’s tirade, snip:

"Israel has proven it can defend itself. And US support for Israel for decades, no matter what, has at a minimum, increased tensions. This post does not support Hamas which Israel has a right to destroy."

Mike is wrong, wrong, WRONG on this! Israel without external support - by the U.S. and others [Hello, there Mr. Putin!] - can not defend itself! Tensions within Middle East were always, ALWAYS, supported and maximized by the U.S. and others, … and so let’s stop pretending that the whole issue is simply existence and action of Hamas!

It all started with statement issued by the British Government in 1917 during the First World War, … The Balfour Declaration and the rest is history: … injustice imposed on indigenous people of the region! Period.

Anyway, … I’m very familiar with ”Mish" from my years and years of participating in conversations - with him, and many others - on fool.com, … Mike, if anything, is simply a very strong supporter of Israel and its action. A criminal enterprise par excellence…

Mike Shedlock, "Mish", is mostly about finance, and also where trade, war and policy intersect with making and losing money. I know you know that. This is perspective for readers.

Here is the larger quote:

"In retrospect, US support for Israel, no matter what Israel did, contributed to the setup we have today.

In retrospect, the war in Iraq and the killing of Hussein led to the formation of ISIS. I vehemently opposed US actions at the time.

In retrospect, the US killing of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi led to ISIS taking over the country.

In retrospect, the US wasted trillions of dollars in Afghanistan, also leaving in defeat. Once again, I said so ahead of time.

Please don’t make a fool of yourself comparing Putin to Hitler, or Mideast events to WWII. Israel has proven it can defend itself. And US support for Israel for decades, no matter what, has at a minimum, increased tensions. This post does not support Hamas which Israel has a right to destroy."

It is from this article:

White House Hysteria: New Domino Theory, Putin Won’t Stop With Ukraine https://mishtalk.com/economics/white-house-hysteria-new-domino-theory-putin-wont-stop-with-ukraine/

I suspect that Mish was protecting himself from attack from his many Pro-Israeli readers and subscribers.

I don't know his deeper mind.

I also don't know exactly what "Israel" is.

"Hamas" is a fragmentary political, military and civic entity, initially and long funded by covert Zionist interests, to weaken Yasser (RIP) Arafat's PLO as a united Palestinian voice..

I think that "Israel" does not have, under international law, a "right to destroy Hamas".

"Israel", beginning with Irgun and related "terrorist" armed factions before and during 1947, grasped through illegal military action, more than what would soon have been provided through mere corrupted diplomacy. "Israel" has enjoyed unusual prerogatives since then, even if I cannot actually define "Israel".

"I also don't know exactly what "Israel" is."

___________

It all started in 19th century. Movement known as Zionism began consolidating as a Jewish nationalist movement. A dream of return to Promise Land ignited it all.

Initially, primarily European Jews ( Russians, Poles) travelled to Southern Levant, legitimately bought parcels of land there - farms - from the locals and settled there permanently. With time, more and more came and did the same. Area being sparsely populated by aboriginals, those new Jewish landowners, decided to expand their properties beyond the legal bounds, … illegally, and forcefully displacing locals. And ‘Why not? became the mantra.

This process continued. Militia-type organization formed to protect the farms and forcefully displace locals from stolen lands.

In 1914, Britain was granted control of the entire region by League of Nations (pre-UN institution) mandate. The region became known as "Mandatory Palestine".

In 1917 Britain’s Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour wrote a letter, … made a declaration, so called Balfour Declaration - a statement of British support for “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” Zionists rejoiced.

By May 1947, Israeli Declaration of Independence was declared, … and that sparked the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.

As the result, Palestinians expulsion was forced and subsequently led to waves of Jewish emigration from other parts of the world. Russia, I believe, was the largest contributor to emigration. Poland not far behind.

Anyway, … that’s it in a nutshell, the very beginning…

Best, … and Very Merry Christmas wishes to you and all yours!

Thanks FS. Merry Christmas. I did already know that much and more, but there is still a lot of mystery about "what Israel is", which is not adequately answered by even correct history. There are a lot of secrets and secret arrangements that I can't see. It is not serving 99% of the people who live there, or who live anywhere.

Mystery persists.

Well who were the people expelled from the area when Egyptians took it over? What was it called then? What were the Palestinians before “Mandatory Palestine” in 1914.

______________

From about 16th century area was part of Ottoman Empire, and the region was made an Ottoman province at that time, … all ‘til the 20th century ( partition of Ottoman Empire by the "Allies of World War I")

Anyway, how far back in history would you wish to venture? Prehistory, … first waves of early humans venturing out of Africa? There are tonnes and tonnes of 'rabbit holes’ on that…

Best,

I have not watched the video. Lead-acid batteries, especially the adsorbed-glass-mat type are often used, but still have limited life. It is better if the charging and discharge cycle on the equipment is set for their needs, and they are NEVER deeply discharged.

Nickel-iron "Edison Cell" batteries may be the best, and are expensive and heavy, but can work 100 years if properly maintained.

"LDS Prepper" designates that this is a Mormon. Those folks may very often keep a one year supply of food in storage. They are systematic.

I read that with interest when he posted it, but he assumes more than I think he should. Still, I like seeing his thoughts and insights, and his projections. Tom Luongo projects a lot, which is dangerous, and anybody who does will be at least moderately wrong a lot. It's a good cognitive exercise, though. I posted this a day after reading this linked post, and was considering it, but did not include it.
