I have grown blackberries, but they are a weed, and the critters get them pretty quickly. Some will come up in the Austin garden. I keep them limited now. I have a grapevine there, too. It has gotten killed back, and the squirrels really monitor the grapes closely.
I sacrifice lot of berries to the birds, here its mulberries and elderberries, which they can't clean out fast enough so I get my share. I also have nest boxes for little birds and they raise their families on bugs. Sweeping the gardens clean. I have a few areas dedicated to berry bushes for me to pick, chicken wired even for a roof. The best part is these berry areas around the gardens keep the grasses from moving in.
Our growing conditions are different. Different critters; different options. Its rare that I can even get any peaches past the squirrels here. Green peaches dripping squirrel-bite ooze drop all over.
Our loves, our home, our garden, our vocation, overcome human hubris. We root ourselves and center.

The Nietzschean self emerges as a numerically distinct psychological object, over and above its constituent drives and affects. But this minimal self lacks the strong features of a transcendental ‘I’; it is complex, not simple, and its boundaries do not coincide with those of consciousness. Nevertheless, the resulting conception of the self affords an adequate basis for understanding Nietzsche's valuation of autonomy (self-governance).
Any plans for berries?
Tomatoes and eggplant are berries.
Sure.

I've squirrel thieves too, but I have learned to protect the crops in various ways and also consider the squirrels as useful.
The Chinese have been caught painting the Hawaiian joint bases with green targeting lasers from satellites.
They stopped as they were immediately called out as many people saw it.
They now have targeting abilities from soace for their hypersonic missiles.
We can expect some serious satellite wars if this continues.
Just as pointing green lasers at pilots in airplanes is against the “law”
Painting our bases in Hawaii from orbit is tantamount to war and the US Space force will be forced to deal with this aggression.
They only did it for a few seconds but it was photographed and identified.
The US military will not allow this to continue.
Thanks for that, Mel. It seems quite reasonable that such things woud be happening...
