Perhaps this is the same video i saw well before "Biden" assumed the presidency. The pre-election campaign Biden had wrinkles and jowls and clear blue eyes, the 2020 Biden had this new childish wrinkle-less face with dark little eyes peering out of the eyeholes, which is the giveaway feature of the mask. As dr. John knows I've always doubted this "biden"....now, with the varying heights (6 foot one day, 6'4' the next) it needs no confirmation!

I used to hat digging the garden, but it has become a refuge and a meditation for me as I've grown older.

I agree that people do not usually become somebody else. My sister was more pleasant when she was younger and has hardened into someone with a personality disorder. Fritz - the problem is that such a declaration doesn't suit certain types of powerful individuals.
It's like drafting a code of conduct for family members - any humane, normal, sane individual would say it's just basic common humanity, but the fact remains that psychopaths have no true ties to family, only what they can get from them.
You're suggesting that the entire Military Industrial Complex, which has been feeding voraciously from DC-based money printing for a generation, should in effect be neutered. I agree with you in principle, but in practice they will commit murder, genocide even, to maintain their privileges.
It only takes one corrupt group to buy politicians and the media (current case AIPAC et al in the USA) and all common sense principles of elections go out the window. US elections now are about managing the smearing, the lying, the cancelling of opponents. It has nothing to do with principles, to do with representation. Now if it were ever possible to assign one large island/defendible land mass for those who want to live by your principles (e.g. Australia, South America), then maybe it could be tested by simply letting in those that agreed with those principles. They wouldn't let you start a utopia like that - they'd set as objective number one to ensure that you failed.

John, what were you thinking? What are the skilled classes? My partner, a former RN, was delighted when I pointed out that medical school is just vocational training, the same as learning to weld, the major difference being that if you harm and kill people as a welder you won't last long!
I was a skilled typesetter and proofreader, and I was working class. I have no idea who the skilled classes are unless you mean the PMC, which bears a lot of responsibility for harming people and creating the mess we live in. And I don't find them skilled at all!

I would take it to mean all of the skills that really matter, Plumbing to Neurosurgery, everything. It was "Artisans" in the past.
It is a point, or at least used to be, that Doctors spoke of where they "trained", because it really was "training" to work 100+ hour weeks with many sleepless nights.
I trained in that world, in those days. It is less rigorous now.
PMC is dominant now in a compliance-based economic paradigm in the center of empire, which is a fairly late stage of contraction from the vigorous growth and innovation of early-empire.
The owners are most afraid of innovation and non-compliance now...
That "training" was designed to desensitize the "trainees," and make them less empathetic, though in my general experience way too many people who become doctors are incredibly emotionally dysfunctional already. It's always delightful to run into doctors who have hearts and brains, though it can't make up for the psychopathic butchers.
That "training" was "training" in every sense. Different people adapted to it differently. Many remained compassionate, but just tired a lot.
People did not usually become somebody else, in my experience.
Not everybody went into medicine for the same reasons; some for compassion, some for interest, some to excel, some for power, some for money.
I agree that people do not usually become somebody else. My sister was more pleasant when she was younger and has hardened into someone with a personality disorder. I don't know what the idiots and butchers I have met over the years were like when they were younger, but one clear thing about doctors is that most of them are extremely entitled and think they are better than other people. The last idiot I went to did not listen to a word I said, thought he impressed me by mentioning T3 and T4 (not impressive, as he did not order the correct bloodwork which is Free T3 and Free T4 -- which I asked for -- and obviously did not know there are also T1, T2, and T5), did not ask how I ended up in my current condition, and is a wuss to boot. I'm hoping that I can find a decent practitioner without having to pay a huge sum to see the direct-care doctor once a year. (I've been told to seek out a BioTe practitioner because they know the thyroid exists and how it works.)
Part of it is the time constraints placed on doctors by multiple levels of management now. "Not meeting productivity standards" is the management mantra...

Susan - in the UK, you get promoted in hospital medicine quicker by joining the Security Services (MI5/MI6 - like your CIA/NSA), which is one reason why unpleasant people progress in medicine.
My sister is a consultant anaesthetist, but to her brother, she is a totally value-free psychopath whose psychopathy started manifesting itself toward me in her early teens.
It's not enough for her to earn $250k a year, to have status and power. She has to destroy her brother in every way possible. And you know what she says: 'I don't do it to anyone else!'

What's needed in doctoring is a far, far more rigorous weeding out of psychopaths, primarily at the entry to medical school stage. It should be a sine qua non that being a psychopath is a lifetime bar to working in any caring professions.
Furthermore, once someone has joined the Security Services, a lifetime ban on working in any profession promoting human health must be imposed. You can't have emotional torturers, genocidal murderers etc etc getting their hands on the caring professions.
It's very noticeable that in my lifetime, the traditional professions for the aspirant middle classes - accountancy, the law, medicine - have lost their professional auras and have been revealed, in all three cases, to be full of exceptionally unpleasant, corrupt, scheming, machiavellian individuals, many psychopaths and plenty of criminals. Arthur Andersen and Enron; Covid19 vaccines and the midazolam/remdesevir scandals; any number of corrupt judges and KCs showing their lack of principles in public enquiries etc etc. That's just three - the list would make up a book.
It's very hard these days to find any safe havens for decent, caring people. Once the psychopaths sense any weakness (they see decency as weakness), they get their teeth into you and tell you that this savagery will never, ever end.

I think your sister and my sister should be shut in a small room together to revel in each other's company. My sister is 10 years older than I am so other than the fact that I was her real live baby doll for Christmas, she wasn't a big part of my childhood, but she treated my middle sister abysmally and I would say seriously damaged her life.

John - ultimately there are contradictory drives and belief systems on this earth which are fundamentally incompatible, so you only have two choices:
1. Decide between the two of them; or
2. Create separate worlds where each individual one is allowed but the other is forbidden.
Perhaps the most incompatible are the immature masculine drives toward domination and subjugation; vs a more cooperative culture where compassion and compromise dominate and selfish domination is overtly frowned upon.

Geographical separation will not stop such women - they will send minions to spy then, when they are ready, they go to cause spiritual degradation.
Quite what such behaviour has to do with the practice of medicine is beyond me, it's the absolute antithesis of the Hippocratic Oath in my book.
