I was a Marine brat from 1958-1971, when Dad retired.

Dad was in Vietnam for 1967, and got back just before the (first) Tet Offensive.

Dad despised Zumwalt and LBJ, and had much company in that.

I was privately advised by a sincere young Marine, around 1970, "Kid, don't believe what they tell you."

I hold it in my consciousness to this day.

He meant it, and sought to help me.

I stayed away from the military.
