Catherine Austin Fitts has had my attention for something like 15 years, though she puts little in print. She says things that are far enough from the official narrative to be true, but are hard to verify, other than watching over time.

Great harvest! A few years ago some US expats were trying to modify okra to a version that would thrive in the tropics (limiting issue, always 12 hours of daylight). While there was some success at sea level locations, here at ~1200m above, it wasn't, alas.
I suspect it was the altitude, but this Texas Hill Country Red Okra would be a good variety to try.
I grew 3 varieties of okra per year for 3 years, carrying the best forward from the previous year.
This won all 3 years.

That's quite a performance in cultivating. I only had partial success with papaya and avocado (via the pile of compost) and only the payas are at the quality of organic ones sold in shops.
Much obliged if you could send some okra seeds. During the long wet season, daytime temperature is in the 23C region, night time these days 20C, RH between 80 and 100%. During the short dry season, daytime temperature can rise to 30C.

Thanks John. Despite wet season I can plant them on hilly sites so well drained, and getting some sun from ~6-12AM.
Re "heat loving" I don't know the specifics, at 1,500m above sea level in Tenerife the temperature could rise to 45C but here that doesn't happen.
When the project is successful it will be my turn to distribute seeds and info to neighbors (who will do the same).
They tolerate heat well, but not freezing.
