This is, of course, the key that unlocks all of the doors, Doc. The problem is that the average citizen does not understand the meaning of the term "fascism," and is thereby vulnerable to being manipulated by those who craftily conflate the meaning of the term with simple authoritarianism.
I've stopped being surprised at the answers I get when I ask people for a definition when they use the word.

I am happy to be of service to humanity. I feel that there is a war upon us "ordinary humans", which we must resist and survive, because the people who got us to this crisis-point want to drive us off a cliff. That's not even "good" for them.
They are misguided. We need to accept Divine guidance to find the best path forward.
I don't use anything for insects except replacement and patience. After a year of insect damage, the next year usually has more of the predators of that insect. Having a lot of garden helps, too. They never get everything, just whatever they like best.
