  Where JD Vance stands on Ukraine, Israel and China   [Some "philosophy major", huh?]   On the Middle East, Vance has echoed Trump’s call for Israel to “finish the job” against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, saying that ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia can only be established once Hamas is defeated in the Gaza Strip. Saudi Arabia has said it can’t establish ties with Israel until it sees a viable pathway to the establishment of a Palestinian State.
  “Our goal in the Middle East should be to allow the Israelis to get to some good place with the Saudi Arabians and other Gulf Arab states. There is no way that we can do that unless the Israelis finish the job with Hamas,” he said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” in May.
  “If they can’t even do that, the attitude in the Middle East will be: ‘You can’t trust these guys, they’re not pursuing their own national security.’ So we’ve got to let them finish this job, and I think hopefully, on the other end of it, get to a new era in the Middle East.”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Snipers killed the suspected shooter moments after he opened fire on the former president, bloodying Trump’s ear, killing one rally attendee and injuring two. The Secret Service and the Butler Police Department say they have no agents, officers or employees with the name of the person claiming to be the sharpshooter.
  THE FACTS: Following Saturday’s attempt on Trump’s life, a poster on the online message board 4chan wrote that they were a sniper assigned to the rally, and that they can be seen in a photo of two law enforcement officers on the roof at the rally.

She was initially convicted and fined $6,255 for failing to comply with the Quarantine Act.   Mother Wins Battle to Stop Son Having Covid Vaccine She Feared Could Kill Him   The mother of a disabled son with a rare heart condition has won a landmark case to prevent the state from injecting him with the COVID-19 vaccine she feared could kill him. The Telegraph has the story.
  After a three-year court battle, the mother, who can only be named as Sarah, said she had endured a “Kafkaesque nightmare” to protect her son, Tom, who has severe learning difficulties as well as a range of life-threatening conditions.
  Mr. Justice Hayden, sitting in the Court of Protection, has now ruled it is “no longer in Tom’s best interests to receive the jab” because the virus “landscape” had changed so much since the peak of the pandemic.
