The bottom line is the overall situation post-Covid is terrifying in a very unique way consisting of total disintegration of reality from Phyance to Politiks to Punitive and Pre-Emptive war. The selloff on August 5, 2024, resulted in losses exceeding $2 trillion. The U.S. tech sector, particularly the “Magnificent Seven” stocks, contributed significantly to this downturn, with their combined losses nearing $3 trillion over a weeks-long period. https://youtu.be/fPkM8F0sjSw
Declining energy resources make Ponzi financial schemes fail sooner. Tiny 0.15% interest rate in Yen did this via carry-trade collapse after 17 years of falling BOJ interest rates.
Little deflations like this are not bad stepdown approach. There is no "good" way.
We are being herded by yahoos with 6-guns, Brother.
The US military was very interested in Thorium generators for a long time, but finally gave up after something like 30 years. It can be done, but it turns out to be really hard to do in the real world.
I think we are at or just past the late 2018 peak of "oil", after "old-oil" peaked in 2005-2006. Nobody has to believe this, but it has implications, and it looks to me like peak-oil looked like the 2008 crash, then peak "oil" looked like the repo-crisis, then COVID-lockdowns and "going direct" bailout. Soon WW-3?
I believe in magmatic strata as having oil. I belive in abiotic oil as well as the deep hot biosphere. I believe since the Club of Rome miasma of lies is unexamined but passionately believed as the New Faith for Tehchnocratic man.
Abiotic Oil seems like a good model, but it is no different, I think, in our lifetimes.
The Limits To Growth was funded by The Club of Rome, which is also not a unitary entity, and it seems to be tracking very well on the "Business As Usual" projections from 1972, as looked at graphically in that "Honest Sorcerer" article.
I "believe" to the degree which it continues to track well. I became aware of it in 1974. I have been watching it since then.
Both human births and deaths were a little lower than projected, but those effects offset each other.
In 1968, an organization was formed known as the Club of Rome led by two misanthropes named Aurelio Peccei and Sir Alexander King. The organization quickly set up branches across the Anglo-Saxon world with members ranging from select ideologues from the political, business, and scientific community who all agreed that society’s best form of governance was a scientific dictatorship. Sir Alexander wrote: “In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill….All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”
In order to finance this paradigm shift, the 1001 Trust was founded in 1970 by Prince Bernhardt of the Netherlands. Bernhardt (card carrying Nazi and founder of the Bilderberger Group in 1954) had worked alongside his close misanthropic associates Prince Philip Mountbatten, and Sir Julian Huxley to create the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) just a few years earlier. The plan was simple: each of the 1001 founding members simply put $10,000 into the trust which was then directed towards the green paradigm shift. Other prominent 1001 Club members included international royalty, billionaires, and technocratic sociopaths who wanted nothing more than to manage this promised Brave New World as “alphas”. Many of these figures were also members of the Club of Rome, including Canada’s Maurice Strong, who later became Vice President of the WWF under Prince Philip’s presidency. Strong had replaced another WWF Vice President by the name of Louis Mortimer Bloomfield. Bloomfield was another 1001 Club member whom New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison discovered to be at the heart of the Montreal-based assassination of the anti-Malthusian President John F. Kennedy in 1963.
The document which became the bible and blueprint of this new anti-humanist movement that birthed today’s Green New Deal agenda was titled Limits to Growth (1972) and today holds the record as the most widely read book on ecology, having sold 30 million copies published into 32 languages. A recent article celebrating the book’s 40 year anniversary stated “it helped launch modern environmental computer modeling and began our current globally focused environmental debate. After Limits [To Growth], environmentalists, scientists and policy-makers increasingly thought of ecological problems in planetary terms and as dynamically interconnected… It is worth revisiting Limits today because, more than any other book, it introduced the concept of anthropocentric climate change to a mass audience.”
Yes, but since January 2021 we keep getting hit with these super-hard freezes that we never got before then, one per winter. Most of my Mexican avocado trees, which were thriving, have been killed, also.

Similar to Alastair Crooke's piece?

I am somewhat skeptical of energy resources absence. No one urges conservation. Power lines as you know waste a tremendous amount of energy. Military single handedly eats a substantial amount of energy. That the political engineering solution evades pig headed leaders whose vested interest lies in impractical solutions is not astonishing. Doubtlessly dozens of things are achievable in energy delivery and energy conservation which are intentionally ignored. This may be one. https://world-nuclear.org/information-library/current-and-future-generation/thorium#:~:text=Thorium%20fuel%20cycles%20offer%20attractive,leads%20to%20extra%20safety%20margins.

Important inflection point if correct.
Stay tuned...

:( Much to be sad about--but we keep on moving forward, my friend.
Weather manipulation. I wonder if it will change under a Trump admin...
