Following the embrace of President Joseph Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the US has endorsed the Israeli plan to force the evacuation of the Palestinians from Gaza City to designated camps in the south. There Israeli forces will allow convoys of humanitarian aid to enter from Egypt and unload after Israeli forces have inspected the cargoes. The new southern zone will be cordoned off by an Israeli ring of fire, and everything north of the line, including Gaza City will be destroyed, hospitals included.
This formula has been pressed on Egypt, the other Arab states, China, and Russia to accept by the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, a Portuguese government retiree, and his deputy for humanitarian affairs, Martin Griffiths, a British government retiree. They have emphasized there is no alternative to the destruction of Gaza, and its full absorption into the state of Israel. Reinforcing them, the US has cast its veto of all resolutions proposed in the UN Security Council (UNSC) by Russia, China and the Arab states to create humanitarian corridors under a ceasefire.
China is preparing a new UNSC resolution to face the US veto shortly, according to a statement by Zhang Jun during Wednesday’s UNSC debate in New York.
In Beijing, President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping discussed between themselves what they plan to do jointly and publicly. “Over a cup of tea”, Putin told Russian reporters on Wednesday evening, “we talked for another hour and a half, maybe two hours, and discussed some very confidential issues face to face. It was a very productive and informative part of our meeting.” “Informative” in Russian means they were unable to agree to make a public declaration of a Sino-Russian action plan. Instead, Putin announced he is deploying supersonic Kinzhal missiles within range of the US naval and air forces positioned in the eastern Mediterranean and in Jordan. Andrei Martyanov has this about the Kinzhal missiles now circling over the Black Sea, carried by MIG 31 fighter-bombers. You will note my assertion that in this ongoing conflict not only are the neighbors of Israel preparing for an escalation at their own regional level but the global powers, meaning the United States and Russia, also have put their assets on the line and are ready to jump in at any time... Putin made his statement about the Kinzhals not from his Kremlin offices but from the guest house in Beijing where he spent two days this week and met for several hours with Chinese president Xi Jinping.
As a veteran Kremlinologist, I can say with confidence that Putin’s readiness to finish off the American aircraft carrier task force in the Mediterranean if necessary had been discussed with and approved by Xi, who surely has his own concerns about the U.S. navy operating most provocatively in the South China Sea.
It also aligns with the threat by North Korean leader Kim one week ago that he is ready to sink the U.S. aircraft carrier that loiters in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula. What we have before us is the prospect of Pearl Harbor all over again, but in three seas.
These separate facts are in the public domain. I remain surprised that no one is drawing the dots to the obvious conclusion: that we are on the cusp of a very great war for which the Mideast crisis is just the detonator.
Nonetheless, it does not have to end this way. Unless attacked, it is unlikely that Iran will enter the conflict directly.

What happens if the DTCC goes bankrupt? Under The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) of 2005, derivatives have ‘super-priority’ in bankruptcy. (The BAPCPA actually protects the banks and derivative claimants rather than consumers; it was the same act that eliminated bankruptcy protection for students).
Derivative claimants don’t even need to go through the bankruptcy court but can simply nab the collateral from the bankrupt estate, leaving nothing for the other secured creditors (including state and local governments) or the banks’ unsecured creditors (including us, the depositors). And in this case the ‘bankrupt estate’ – the holdings of the DTCC/Cede & Co. – includes all of our stocks, bonds, digitized securities, mortgages, and more.
It sounds like conspiracy theory, but it’s all laid out in the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), tested in precedent, and validated by court rulings. The UCC is a privately-established set of standardised rules for transacting business, which has been ratified by all 50 states and includes key provisions that have been ‘harmonised’ with the laws of other countries in the Western orbit...

..As for timing, Webb says just the movement in interest rates, from 0.25 per cent to 5.5 per cent, should have collapsed the market already. He thinks it is being held up artificially, while ‘they’ get the necessary systems in place.
Where to save your personal monies? Big derivative banks are risky, and Webb thinks credit unions and smaller banks will go down with the market if there is a general collapse, as happened in the Great Depression. Gold and silver are good but hard to spend on groceries. Here is an excerpt from the article that reports the words of Anastassia Makarieva, the leading scientist engaged in these studies.
“Planting one trillion trees is wrong,” said Makarieva. Setting a numerical or area-based target “is lying to people”. Instead, the goal should be to restore ecosystem functionality. Just as mature trees with intact soil store far more carbon than young tree plantations, so, too, mature native forests are far more effective at regulating water and climate, she said. Makarieva’s work and that of many others is showing that local communities’ efforts to buffer themselves from floods and droughts by returning land to wetlands and floodplains, restoring native plants starting on wetter edges and mimicking natural succession has the potential — through carbon storage, heat regulation and the water cycle — to also lessen climate change and water extremes."
So, we are seeing a major change of paradigm in the way we understand the role of forests and the whole ecosystem. And we may hope that other paradigms will change as well. Just as we can change the way we see trees from carbon sticks to parts of a living forest, can we change the way we see humans from monkeys with guns to members of a living society? Right now, it looks impossible, but who knows?
