Mamdani "will build a city-owned bank"... and will get bought off (or offed) by the deep state; Trump meeting with him to "work something out". Uh huh. Only certain people are allowed to print money (fractional reserve) and Mamdani is likely not one of them. I thought California would do this very thing 20 years ago to solve their insolvency issues. I now believe the reason this hasn't caught on widely is that it would expose the utter sham of fractional reserve banking. Once The People realize banking is a money printing (credit issuing, actually) Ponzi scheme the result would not be good for business.
To whit, I can deposit $1000 at a bank who can then legally "lend" it and $9000 more to anyone. Someone can borrow that $10k and deposit it at another bank, who can now "lend" that $10k + $90k more to someone else and so on. There was only ever $1000 deposited, yet an infinite amount can be "lent" as a result. Total scam.
Yes, but... If we consider that the NYC elites are actually ready to throw the plebes a few bones at this point,to stabilize the city, then what are the least-costly-to-their-profits bones to throw?
This public bank would not increase anybody's taxes, but it would decrease the profits of banks that NYC now uses. This could be phased in to ease that transition.
It does look like elites may be ready to deal, and Mamdani seems adept at negotiations.
I'm not personally opposed to these non-federated banks. For sure, such banks could be used for community good. Such altruism seems so counter to the usual banks and their owners that it seems very likely those owners would oppose using their type of scam for anybody's benefit but their own. Usury is evil.
NSA has the most powerful computer systems with a well-established framework for decrypting contents WITHOUT keys. It also has about the best math brains the US has to offer. Although I heard the rumor that cryptocurrency was an invention of CIA, I see no reason NSA will stay out of it. After all, the NSA charter covers all things electronic, while the CIA's charter is human intelligence. No matter who launched the concepts and prototype, NSA will take over eventually. See the movie "Enemy of the State" (1998).

We'll see. They could let this happen.
It has long been blocked from coming up for a vote in the NY legislature.
If any reader has Bitcoin...they should ponder this:

In a nutshell, it seems US has ability to hack anyone’s bitcoin wallet.
Bitcoin started as a DIA project, if I recall correctly. Why would they not have a back-door?

And thanks for dropping in, Brad.
